Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Nightside ("we", "us") collects, why, and what control you have. The short version: your conversations are private, we don't sell your data, we don't run ads or cross-app tracking, and you can delete everything yourself, in the app, at any time.

1. What we collect

• Account data — your email address, display name (if you set one), and sign-in identifiers (from Apple or email sign-up).
• Conversations — the messages you exchange with companions, and metadata about voice calls (who you called, when, how long). Voice calls are processed in real time; we store the call record, not a recording, on our servers.
• Companion memory — short summaries a companion "remembers" about you, generated from your conversations, kept separately per companion.
• Purchases & balance — your diamond balance, gifts, and purchase records (transaction identifiers from Apple — never your payment details).
• Diagnostics — basic error reports from the app (what failed, when, on which platform) to help us fix bugs.

We do not collect your contacts, photos, location, or advertising identifiers, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

2. How we use it

• To run the Service: generating companion replies, placing voice calls, keeping your history and memories in sync across sessions.
• To operate the diamond economy and your subscription entitlements.
• To personalise your experience (for example, a daily note based on how and when you usually talk).
• To keep the Service safe, prevent abuse, and fix crashes.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your conversations for advertising.

3. Who processes your data for us

Generating an AI companion's reply requires sending the relevant conversation to processors acting on our instructions:

• Supabase — our database, authentication, and server infrastructure (data hosted in the United States).
• AI language providers (via the Eden AI gateway) — receive conversation text to generate replies.
• ElevenLabs — powers real-time voice calls; receives call audio to run the conversation.
• Apple — processes all payments and Sign in with Apple.

These providers may process data only to provide their service to us. We share the minimum needed — for example, AI providers receive conversation content, not your email address.

4. Retention

• Conversations, memories, and call history are kept until you delete them or your account.
• Purchase records are kept as required for accounting and fraud prevention.
• Diagnostics are kept for a limited period and then removed.

5. Your controls

• Delete conversations — in the app: Settings → Delete all chat history.
• Make him forget — remove individual memory lines or wipe a companion's memory entirely (Profile → What they remember).
• Export your data — Profile → Download my data gives you a copy in JSON.
• Delete your account — Profile → Delete account. Two-step confirmation, effective immediately, removes your profile, conversations, memories, history, and balance from our servers.
• You may also email us for access, correction, or deletion requests.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, the EEA/UK under GDPR, or California under the CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to complain to a supervisory authority. We honour these requests via the in-app tools above or by email. We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as defined by the CCPA.

7. Security

Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to production data is restricted, and database rows are protected so each account can only ever read its own data. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will notify you as required by law.

8. Adults only

Nightside is for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18; if we learn we have, we delete the account and its data.

9. Changes

If we make material changes to this policy we will flag them in the app or here, with a new "Last updated" date.
